#Publishing

Publishing turns your project into a web build players can open from a link.

#Builds

A build packs the game, its engine and the assets its scenes use. Before publishing, the menu shows its initial load (what loads before the game starts) and total size. Builds are kept, so you can go back to any of them.

#How games fit the screen

Published games fill the browser window or the page element they're placed in. The whole game always stays visible: it's scaled to fit and centred, and any spare space at the sides or above and below shows the game's background colour. Games stay sharp on high-resolution (Retina) screens, and buttons react exactly where they're drawn.

Games made for both orientations switch to their portrait layout when the window is taller than it is wide, for example when a phone is turned upright.

#Stage

Publish to stage builds your latest saved changes and gives you a private link (play.oxinator.com/s/…) for testing. Every successful build has its own stage link; share it with testers, it isn't listed anywhere.

#Prod

Publish to prod puts your game on its public address, play.oxinator.com/your-game.

  • If you've changed the game since the build on stage, it builds your latest changes, puts that build on stage first, shows its sizes and asks before publishing. Prod always gets a build that has been on stage.
  • If prod already has your latest changes, the menu says Prod is up to date, with Rebuild and publish anyway.

#Your game's address

The first prod publish sets the address (the slug), suggested from the project name. It uses lowercase letters, digits and dashes, up to 60 characters, and can't be changed yet. A few words are reserved, such as api, play and dashboard.

#Rollback

On the project page, the prod history lists every build prod has served. Choose Make live on an earlier build to switch prod back right away; nothing is rebuilt. Unpublish takes the game offline; its builds are kept.

#Who can publish to prod

Plans include prod publishing; an expired plan keeps stage links working. See Plans and billing.
